Rebuilding
Community Initiative

The
Rebuilding Community Initiative (RCI) is a seven-year initiative funded by
the Annie E. Casey Foundation to explore new ways to engage
residents in the process and work of rebuilding their neighborhoods.
Since 1994, MHCDO has worked through RCI to increase the
community-building capacity of the residents and neighborhood-based
organizations in
Ward 7. RCI
is a community-driven initiative with projects developed, guided and
carried out by residents.
The initiative is divided into three phases:
RCI has enabled MHCDO to better connect
with residents and other community-based organizations, collaborate with
government and private sector entities, and bridge gaps in services.
The project has also brought new leadership and formerly unheard voices to
the table to identify changes necessary to the development of strong
families and neighborhoods.
