LOCAL PERFORMERS TO TAKE THE STAGE AT
 “DC 2K1 TALENT DISCOVERY SHOWCASE”

  Washington, DC – Saturday, September 22, 2001, District residents will demonstrate their abilities at the “DC 2K1 Talent Discovery Showcase.”  The performers, who auditioned to secure a spot in tomorrow night’s lineup, include singers, rap artists, dancers and poets.  Local radio stations WPGC, WKYS, WHUR and WOL will judge the competition.  Several established artists will make guest appearances, including female R&B vocalist May Day, female hip-hop artist Vicious Storm, and male R&B group Uncut. 

The “DC 2K1 Talent Discovery Showcase” is organized by Uth-N-Charge, a youth-operated production company created by the Youth Entrepreneurial Alliance (YEA!) to give 14-21 year-olds an opportunity to obtain knowledge of the music industry, enhance their life experiences, and open the door to career and entrepreneurial possibilities. 

 The YEA! Program is sponsored by the Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation, African American Music Association, Marshall Heights Community Development Organization, Inc., Multimedia Training Institute, and Anacostia Economic Development Corporation.  Comcast Cable, New Horizon Sound Studio, and Vicious Entertainment are also sponsors of the “DC 2K1 Talent Discovery Showcase.”
