Adult Literacy/GED Preparation and Counseling Services

Raymond_Garcia1Raymond Garcia saw the need to obtain a GED and start a business; accordingly, he enrolled in the MHCDO Adult Literacy Program. While at MHCDO he visited the social worker’s office on a daily basis to talk about his dream to start a business. The social worker told him that he could do anything he set his mind to as long as he focused on his goals. After numerous counseling sessions, they both concluded that a cleaning business would be attainable.

Mr. Garcia states, “I am from New York City. I moved to Washington DC to start a new life. After a challenging upbringing that was complicated and did not allow me to complete my education, I made some difficult choices.  I taught myself to read and write using a dictionary and books. I enrolled in MHCDO so that I could finally become a high school graduate. My wife did some research and found the program at MHCDO and after the first day, I knew that I had made the right choice. The staff and the classmates at MHCDO are very supportive. I have also started my own domestic cleaning business called, ICLEAN4U. We’ll clean up that mess, while you sit back and rest. Many people in the Washington DC area are busy with their day to day responsibilities and cleaning is not what people want to spend their free time doing. I have a good attention to detail and I can handle that for them. Services are not charged by the hour, which is what makes ICLEAN4U different from other domestic cleaning companies. You are given an estimate before the job is completed and the job is never done, until it’s done right.”
