Adult Ice Skating Class
Love to skate or want to learn? Sign up for this three week mini-session at Ward 7's Fort Dupont Ice Arena (FDIA) -- Washington, DC's only full-size, indoor public skating rink. Gain confidence to enjoy a lifetime of skating on your own. Each class includes 25-minute lesson and 25-minute practice. Rental skates included. Ages 18 and over.

The Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP), sponsored by the DC Department of Housing and Community Development, assists low- and moderate-income individuals and families to purchase homes in the District of Columbia by providing low- and no-interest loans up to $70,000 to help with down payment and closing costs. MHCDO conducts HPAP orientation sessions on the 2nd Monday of each month.

Anacostia Museum Director's Reception & Open House

Join the Friends of the Anacostia Museum in formally welcoming new director, Ms. Camille Giraud Akeju. Become a sponsor and attend this special event to help raise funds for the "Director's Discretionary Fund." The reception and open house will feature local and national live entertainment, on-stage acknowledgements, a marketplace of local artwork, a barbeque, games, a tour of current museum exhibits, a silent art auction, sponsor exhibits, and a printed souvenir program.

The DC Superior Court invites residents from Wards 7 and 8 to participate in this forum, focused on how the Community Courts and the community, working together, can make positive change in DC neighborhoods. The forum will also provide community residents an opportunity to ask questions and make comments about the criminal justice system, the Community Courts, public safety, crime and quality of life issues.

The Nation's Capital Walk for Literacy 2006
Literacy challenges affect every business, citizen and family in the District! The UDC/State Education Agency/BTW Public Chartered invite you to support literacy programs in the District by participating in this year's Walk for Literacy. Literacy programs offered by MHCDO and other organizations provide basic reading, math, computer education, English proficiency, GED and workplace readiness training to adult learners. When you Walk for Literacy, you directly impact literacy by raising money to support literacy services. Distance: 5k Walk/Fun Run. Advance Registration Fees: $20 General / $10 Teams, Students & Seniors. On-Site Registration Fee: $25. Great prizes, t-shirts and entertainment.
